QUESTION POSED ON: 11 August 2005
We have 200 desktops with Windows XP Pro SP2 running on a mixed network. Some are on Windows Server 2003 domain and some are still on Windows NT domain. We did not enable Remote Assistance or Remote Desktop prior to distributing the PCs. Is there a way to remotely enable them?

EXPERT RESPONSE
You can enable remote desktop on your Windows 2003 Server domain by using Group Policy. For the XP machines in the NT domain, you may need to use a batch file to modify the registry setting. Fortunately, Mitch Tulloch wrote a great article on how to do this (plus a sample batch file): http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/pub/a/windows/2004/05/04/serverhacks_remote.html.
