QUESTION POSED ON: 31 August 2004 Can you back up just your registry in a Windows XP Pro upgrade system without backing up your whole system state? If so, approximately how many 3 1/2" floppys would it take to do this? Why can't they make it so you can do this with a writable CD drive?

EXPERT RESPONSE
You can backup the Registry using RegEdit and exporting the subkeys to any location you like, and then copy it the files to a floppy disk or CD-RW. The size of the files will vary depending on the size of your entire Registry.
